Dirty Queer is a curated open mic & online journal focused on sex/sexuality/gender. Priority will be given to 2 Spirit and Trans Black, Indigenous, People of Color, folks with disabilities, and other marginalized voices.

The journal is a new venture and our first issue will feature work by our editors. We will re-open submissions on 3/1/22 and will publish on a rolling basis.. We are open to poetry, prose, and art in many forms. We're also seeking guest reviewers of queer and trans literature, art, and events, please contact us if you're interested in more information about the review submission process.

The open mic ran for 9 years at In Other Words, a feminist bookstore and gathering space in Portland, Oregon. It has recently been revived online out of a widespread need for queer/trans joyful connection and art, and is happening when most needed/sustainable. Announcements will happen on social media and our mailing list, and you must be signed up on our mailing list to get the registration information.

Dirty Queer is a virtual space, but the editorial team live and work on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla and many other tribes who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
